Accreditation

While RIDE programs are charaterized by incredible adventure and authentic excursions, studying abroad should be much more than just a fun time. Above all else, RIDE programs serve the cheif purpose of providing our students with the most enriching learning experience possible.

SCHOOL OF RECORD

For students studying abroad, a School of Record makes it possible to receive a US transcript for the courses they take abroad. RIDE has a School of Record relationship for students enrolled in its various educational programs.

Students enrolled in our programs receive a Grade Record document - similar to an academic transcript. School of Record partners review every RIDE course, general academic practices, and standards. With their approval, after the process of observation and evaluation, RIDE’s programs are judged to be equivalent to those offered at the US institution. They are therefore validated for US higher education credit by the School of Record.

ACADEMIC ADVISORY BOARD

Faculty and education abroad administrators from our Schools of Record sit on our Academic Advisory Board (AAB), which provides external oversight for our programs. This board helps us reach our high-level quality goals by conducting annual reviews and by creating reports that are shared with all of our partners.

CREDITS

Students earn undergraduate credits upon successful completion of a RIDE program. Semester programs offer either 16 or 17 credits, and summer programs offer between 4 and 9 credits. (See individual program pages.) RIDE academic and program directors assign a letter grade for each course. Students may not elect a pass/fail grading option.

Credits earned through a RIDE program are transferrable only at the discretion of the receiving school. Please note that many schools require prior approval in order to transfer credits earned through study abroad.

Students are responsible for meeting with their study abroad and/or academic advisor prior to enrollment to determine the transferability of credit. Study abroad offices can provide guidance on how to integrate the study abroad experience with a particular course of study at the home institution.

GRADING SCALE

RIDE programs operate on the 4.0 grading scale. Students on RIDE programs will either receive a letter grade or a pass/fail mark.
