The Elephant Coexistence Trek

Community-Led Conservation in Kasigau

Conservation Led by the Community.

Upcoming Trek: June 14-June 28, 2026

Step into the heart of human–elephant coexistence in southeastern Kenya with RIDE International’s Elephant Coexistence Volunteer Trek. Centered in the Kasigau region—with time in Nairobi and a full-day excursion to Tsavo East National Park—this two-week journey places you alongside local Elephant Guardians working daily to protect both livelihoods and wildlife.

This is not a safari. It’s not voluntourism. It’s an immersive experience in community-led conservation. Walk farm boundaries at sunrise. Learn how elephants are identified as individuals through photo monitoring. Observe how sunflowers, water catchments, and local leadership reduce conflict in real time. Share meals, conversations, and long days of learning in a landscape where coexistence is lived—not theorized.

Come ready to listen, support, and engage.

Open to students, gap-year travelers, conservation enthusiasts, and anyone eager to experience conservation differently.Experience the adventure of a lifetime!
